Trojans Travel to Co-Lin - Looking to Climb in MACCC Standings

A "home trip" to Vicksburg last weekend didn't garner any wins for the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans baseball team. They dropped a double-header to Southwest Mississippi Community College, 20-5, and 13-5 at Sports Force Park. The games had been moved due to field conditions in Moorhead.

The Trojans are now 8-17-1 overall and 4-6 in the MACCC. Southwest improves to 14-16 overall and 4-6 in the MACCC. Jones College stands in first place in the MACCC with a 24-6 overall and 9-1 MACCC record. East Central is in second place at 17-12 and 7-1. Pearl River is at third sporting a 27-5 overall and 8-2 MACCC ledger.

Trojan Head Coach Luke Stanley noted the weekend Vicksburg home series just wasn't a good outing on any level.

"We had a bad day," Coach Stanley said. "They played really well but we're taking this week and getting better. Hopefully, we'll come back out on Saturday and be ready for Co-Lin."

The Trojans travel to Copiah Lincoln, 8-22 overall and 2-6 in the MACCC. Game times are 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Some bright spots, leadoff hitter Wes Warnock "has done really well and will continue doing what he's doing." Warnock has committed to the Delta State Statesmen to continue his playing career.

The Trojans have amassed 172 runs over 26 games this season with 18 home runs in the mix. Warnock is hitting .422 and has 14 stolen bases along with 17 RBIs and 16 walks. He has also scored 31 runs.

The Trojans have signed more than a dozen players and have walk-ons as well that will be added to next year's team. Once finalized, all the new Trojan players will be announced. For all things MDCC Trojan baseball, check out www.MDCCTrojans.com.
