MDCC falls to ICC

The Trojans of Mississippi Delta Community College traveled to Fulton on Thursday night, looking for their third consecutive victory. However, it was not meant to be, as MDCC fell to Itawamba Community College, 41-7.

The loss dropped Delta to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the North division, while ICC improved to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the North.

MDCC took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter when quarterback Byron Walker (Sulphur, La.) connected with Lebarron Jones (Mobile, Ala.) on a touchdown pass and Spencer Romero (Brookhaven) added the PAT. Unfortunately, this would be all of the scoring that the Trojans would do, as the Indians reeled off 41 unanswered points throughout the rest of the contest.

Jones led the Delta receiving corps once again, as the sophomore hauled in six catches for 94 yards and a touchdown, while Tommy Washington (Yazoo City) and Treveon Miles (Woodville) each had four catches apiece.

KenTerious Owens (Oxford) led the way on the defensive side for MDCC, as the freshman defensive lineman had eight tackles on the night.

Delta returns home on Saturday, as Holmes Community College comes to Jim Randall Stadium in Moorhead for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
