Trojans are winners of two straight

The men's basketball team at Mississippi Delta Community College has picked up steam of late and has reeled off two consecutive victories in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) play.

The latest came on Tuesday night, as the Trojans soundly defeated Northwest Community College, 83-71, at J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead. Quintaures Boatman (Indianola) had a huge night against Northwest, as he had 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Latrell Carter (Memphis, Tenn., 13 points), Darius Jackson (Plaquemine, La., 12 points) and Brandon Kimble (Indianola, 10 points) all scored in double digits in the 83-point output against the Rangers.

Delta started the two-game streak on Thursday, Jan. 17 at Itawamba Community College when the Trojans of MDCC picked up a crucial 77-69 conference win on the home floor of the Indians.

Avion Graham (Byhalia) led all MDCC scorers with 17 points, while Boatman and Jackson each chipped in with 15 points to lead the Trojans to the win. Delta now sits at 7-8 overall and 2-2 in MACJC play.

The Trojans will look to keep up their hot play on Thursday night, traveling to Northeast Community College in Booneville for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
