Trojans on fire heading into MACJC play

The Mississippi Delta Community College men's basketball team has been red-hot as of late, winning five consecutive games heading into Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) play.

The latest win was on Wednesday night in Wesson, where the Trojans came away with a 70-66 victory over Co-Lin Community College. Delta was led by a big night from Anfernee Diggins (Greenville), who finished with 19 points, five rebounds and five steals. Latrell Carter (Memphis, Tenn.) pitched in with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Sterling Eubanks (Denton, Texas), Darius Jackson (Plaquemine, La.) and Terry Wallace (Aberdeen) all had 10 points apiece.

On Nov. 26, MDCC played host to Royal Ambassadors Prep and pulled off a convincing 84-54 victory in Moorhead. Jackson led all scorers with 22 points, with Travon Gibbs (Tunica) adding 14 points and Diggins and Wallace both adding 11 points as well. Diggins would complete the double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds on the night.

Delta defeated Baton Rouge Community College, 71-54, on Nov. 25 in Moorhead, and it was Jackson who had the big night, scoring 15 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cartisco Brown (Moorhead) and Diggins both chipped in with 11 points.

MDCC will host East Mississippi Community College on Monday night at J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead, with the opening tip set for 8 p.m.
