Fears hauls in 2020-2021 signing class

The signing class for the 2020-2021 edition of Mississippi Delta Community College men's basketball was announced by head coach Derrick Fears on Thursday.

Fears, the longtime head man of the Trojans hardwood program, will welcome eight new student-athletes to the fold for the upcoming campaign.

"We are very excited about the new additions to our program for the 2020-2021 Trojan basketball team," said Fears. "The strength of the team is each individual member, and the strength of each member is the team."

The eight signees are listed here in alphabetical order:

Ja'Kya Black

  • 6'4" Guard
  • Northeast High School/Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
  • Two-time player of the week for the district championship winners

Qyrique Dabon

  • 6'7" Center
  • Transfer from Southern University at New Orleans, La./Jarrell High School/Jarrell, Texas
  • Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) All-Freshman performer
  • Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) 3A MVP & All-State first team member

Dantavian Davis

  • 5'7" Guard
  • Noxubee County High School/Brooksville
  • District Player of the Year & Team MVP at NCHS
  • All-Tournament first team choice at the North Half state tournament

Morgan Green

  • 5'10" Guard
  • Greenville High School/Greenville
  • First-team selection to The Delta-Democrat Times postseason team & all-tournament team
  • All-district first team choice

Raemone Lee

  • 6'5" Forward
  • Moss Point High School/Moss Point
  • All-District selection after averaging double digits in the scoring department

Jacquan McDonel

  • 6'2" Guard
  • Florence High School/Florence
  • Averaged a near double-double in points and rebounds in leading FHS to the state quarterfinals

Jarius Sharp

  • 6'5" Forward
  • Transfer from Arkansas State University Mid-South/Hall High School/Stephens, Ark.
  • Two-time all-conference selection in high school at Camden Fairview (Ark.) & Hall (Ark,) HS
  • Helped lead ASU Mid-South to the NJCAA Region II championship as a freshman in 2019-2020

Jamarion Walker

  • 6'1" Guard
  • Shaw High School/Shaw
  • District MVP & All-District first-team selection
  • All-Area first-team choice & named to All-State honorable mention team
