Softball nearing midway point of MACJC play

The halfway point of Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) play is nearing for the Mississippi Delta Community College softball team, as the Trojans have 18 conference games reamining in the 2019 season.

The Trojans are coming off a home doubleheader on Wednesday versus Itawamba Community College, one in which the Lady Indians claimed wins in both contests.

Jessica Irion (Greenville), a sophomore outfielder, is currently leading MDCC on the offensive side, as she is hitting a team-leading .360 with 27 hits in 75 at-bats. She is trailed by Kassie Comeaux (Jennings, La.), who leads the team with three home runs and is tied for second on the club with 10 RBI.

Kristen Deason (DeRidder, La.) and Kaeli Lognion (Hayes, La.) have thrown the large majority of the team's innings to this point, with Deason compiling a team-high of 65.2 innings and Lognion throwing 62.1 innings.

MDCC is scheduled to play host to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, weather permitting.
