Softball working through fall practice

The Mississippi Delta Community College softball team is currently in the second week of a six-week practice period that started on September 8 and will end on October 18.

Delta will play against outside competition on four separate occasions, as well as hosting a number of weekly intrasquad scrimmages at the Carl & Brenda Grubb Softball Complex.

The Trojans will open outside play this Friday, Sept. 20, competing in the Northwest Mississippi Community College tournament versus Blue Mountain College (10:30 a.m.), Southwest Tennessee Community College (12 p.m.) and Holmes Community College (3 p.m.).

The Southwest Mississippi Community College tournament is next on the agenda, as MDCC faces the Louisiana Heat (1:30 p.m.), Baton Rouge Community College (3 p.m.) and Southwest Mississippi (6 p.m.) on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

A local trip just two days later (October 4) is the next date on the fall slate, as MDCC will compete in the Delta State Round Robin with a 1 p.m. contest against East Central Community College and a 5 p.m. finale versus host Delta State.

The fall period comes to end on Friday, Oct. 18 when Delta travels to Blue Mountain College for the BMC Play Day, and it is here that the Trojans will take on Blue Mountain at 12:30 p.m. and the Blue Mountain JV team at 2 p.m.
