Stretch run coming for MDCC women’s basketball

The back stretch of the 2018-2019 regular season is in full view for the Mississippi Delta Community College women's basketball team as just three games remain.

The Lady Trojans currently sit at 6-12 overall and 4-5 in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) play after Monday night's 78-66 loss at home to the visiting Itawamba Community College Lady Indians.

Local standout Shammia Love (Moorhead) is the team's leading scorer at press time, as the freshman guard is averaging 12.6 points per game. Erika Faulkner (Independence) is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.2 points per game.

Patrisha Lollis (Greenville) has been a force on the boards, as the sophomore forward/center is hauling in 9.5 rebounds per game.

The ladies are headed to Northwest Community College on Thursday night for their next game, a 5 p.m. tip in Senatobia. The MDCC home finale is set for Monday, Feb. 18 against Northeast Community College (6 p.m.) and the 2018-2019 regular season wraps up on Thursday, Feb. 21 when the Lady Trojans go to Coahoma Community College at 6 p.m.
