47 Student-athletes named to Academic All-State team

Jackson, Miss. - The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) today announced their 2019-2020 Academic Award individual recipients and All-Academic Teams. More than 1,000 MACJC student-athletes were awarded Academic All-State or Distinguished All-State honors for academic excellence during the school year by the conference.

Honorees were awarded Distinguished All-State and All-Academic distinction in football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, golf, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's soccer.

Academic All-State honor recipients must have earned between a 3.25 and 3.79 on a 4.0 scale for a minimum of 24 cumulative hours. Distinguished Academic All-State distinction--the MACJC's highest academic honor--is reserved for student-athletes with a 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

"MACJC student-athletes are competitive on the court or field, and in the classroom," said MACJC Commissioner Steve B. Martin. "I couldn't be more proud of our student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors and academic advisers for their hard work this year, particularly in these difficult and challenging times. The continued academic excellence of our student-athletes is a testament to their grit, character and integrity."
