Trojans named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams

2019-2020 NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

Mississippi Delta Community College saw 26 of its student-athletes named to the 2019-20 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic teams on Friday.

Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2019-20 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC FIRST TEAM: 4.00 GPA

BASEBALL: Casey Burge (Lumberton)

SOFTBALL: Tyra Hudson (Leland) and Kaeli Lognion (Hayes, La.)


NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC SECOND TEAM: 3.80-3.99 GPA

BASEBALL: Calabe Collins (Terry), Blayke Dendy (Yazoo City), Riggs Easterling (Shreveport, La.), Jake Lycette (Brandon), Chase Morgan (Kosciusko) and Eli Stallings (Cleveland)

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Ricardo Lewis (Canton)

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Jacambriyona Cheatham (Macon), Pleasure King (Vicksburg) and Sabreya Lee (Saltillo)

FOOTBALL: Treveon Miles (Woodville)

SOFTBALL: Olivia Whatley (Rome)


NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC THIRD TEAM: 3.60-3.79 GPA

BASEBALL: Jon Rueben Chesteen (Winona), Edward Rice (Moorhead) and Jackson Vance (Canton)

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Artavia Tate (Belzoni) and Antanisha Wade (Cleveland)

FOOTBALL: Paxton Branning (Hollandale) and Terrell Coleman (Crosby)

SOFTBALL: Hannah Higdon (Water Valley), Erica Keller (Greenville), Cearra McPherson (Springdale, Ark.) and Tabitha Thompson (Rox)

Over 1,000 NJCAA programs earned Academic Team of the Year recognition on Thursday, including the MDCC baseball team (3.44 GPA), softball team (3.41 GPA) and women's basketball team (3.21 GPA).
