Burnadette McDonald is in her first year as the assistant athletic director at Mississippi Delta Community College. She recently retired after spending 20 seasons as the head coach of the women's basketball program. The Lady Trojans achieved success under the watchful eye of the coaching veteran, including capturing a Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state championship in 2005 and making an appearance in the MACJC state tournament in her final season of 2018-2019.

McDonald, who also chairs the Health, Physical Education & Recreation department at MDCC, began her coaching career at Delta State University after a distinguished playing career. During her playing career, she was a four-year letterwinner that helped the Lady Statesmen to a 95-20 record and two appearances in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) semifinals in 1986 and 1987. She currently ranks No. 9 in career scoring at DSU with 1,538 points and No. 10 in career steals with 188. The two-time All-Gulf South Conference (GSC) selection was selected to the DSU Hall of Fame in 2002.

After her playing career ended, McDonald spent two seasons 1988-1989 and 1989-1990) as a graduate assistant under the legendary Lloyd Clark. It was during her playing career and time as a GA that McDonald earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from DSU. After a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University, she returned to her alma mater and served as Clark's full-time assistant coach from 1990-1999, helping guide the Lady Statesman to several GSC and regional championships. 

The Madison native, who was born in New Orleans, La., graduated from Madison-Ridgeland High School in 1983 and currently resides in Moorhead.
