Fall practice underway for MDCC baseball

The six-week fall practice period for the Mississippi Delta Community College baseball team is well underway, as the Trojans are in week two of a practice period that started on September 8.

The Trojans will conclude the fall on Friday, Oct. 18, and will then embark on their offseason strength and conditioning program until the fall semester is complete.

MDCC is allowed four dates during the fall versus outside competition, and the team will travel to Mississippi College on Friday, Sept. 27 to take on the Choctaws in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.

The Trojans will then travel to Smith Wills Stadium in Jackson on Friday, Oct. 4 and will face Holmes Community College at 10 a.m. and Itawamba Community College at 1 p.m.

Delta will head right down the road to Cleveland and the campus of Delta State University on Tuesday, Oct. 8 to take on Northeast Community College at 11 a.m. and Co-Lin Community College at 5 p.m.

The team will play their fourth and final date on Friday, Oct. 18 at USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn., taking on Calhoun (Ala.) Community College at 2:15 p.m. and Dyersburg (Tenn.) Community College at 5:30 p.m.

The team practices each weekday at 2:30 at Jimmy Bellipanni Complex in Moorhead. There will also be numerous intrasquad scimmages held throughout the fall.
