Another Mississippi Delta Community College baseball player has inked with William Carey University in Hattiesburg, this time in the form of Jake Lycette (Brandon).
Lycette, a left-handed hitting outfielder, had three doubles and three stolen bases prior to the season being cut short in mid-March. He also had seven runs scored, six walks and a .263 batting average.
He prepped at perennial power Northwest Rankin High School, where he was named to the All-Region and All-District teams in baseball. He also competed in bowling and football, where he was a team captain in bowling and an All-District selection in football.
Lycette, a standout student who was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, will have four seasons of eligibility left at William Carey after being granted the 2020 season back due to COVID-19.
