MDCC welcomes East Mississippi on Thursday

The Mississippi Delta Community College football team returns home to Moorhead on Thursday evening, welcoming No. 5 East Mississippi Community College to Jim Randall Stadium at 7 p.m. 

MDCC will be looking to pick up their first win of the 2019 season on Thursday, as the Trojans currently sit at 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the North division after a 33-3 defeat at the hands of No. 3 Northwest Community College. The Lions of EMCC are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the North after a sound 48-3 defeat of Itawamba Community College less than a week ago.

Lebarron Jones (Mobile, Ala.), a sophomore wide receiver, has been an offensive force for MDCC all season, as he currently leads the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) in receptions with 23, good enough for 241 yards and one touchdown reception. He has been aided by Patrick Jackson (Columbus), a sophomore running back that is currently fifth in the state in rushing yards (214) on 53 carries.

George Jackson (Rolling Fork), a sophomore defensive back, is tied for 18th in the league in total tackles with 19 (14 solo, five assists) through three contests. He also has one pass breakup.

The Lions of East Mississippi are once again led by a high-powered passing game, as quarterback Connor Neville leads the MACJC in passing yardage (856 yards) and yards per game (285.3 yards per game) and is tied for touchdowns thrown with nine. Jason Brownlee is Neville's top target, as Brownlee leads the league in receiving yards with 306 on the strength of 16 receptions and three touchdowns.

DeShawn Page leads the East Mississippi defense with 15 tackles (11 solo, four assists) and has one tackle for loss, one forced fumble and one pass breakup.
