The Trojans of Mississippi Delta Community College hit the road this week for the second time this season, this time on Saturday afternoon, heading to Coahoma Community College at 3 p.m.

Both programs are still searching for their first North division victory of the 2019 season, as the Trojans are 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the North division after falling, 41-23, to East Mississippi in the third week of the season. The Tigers of Coahoma are 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the North after dropping a 30-21 decision to Itawamba Community College a week ago.

After four games, the Trojans have a number of student-athletes that rank in the top 10 nationally in many different categories. Lebarron Jones (Mobile, Ala.), a sophomore wide receiver, sits fourth in the country in all-purpose yards per game with a 154.3 yard per game average behind 617 total yards. Su'Metris Stewart (Hollandale) ranks fifth in the nation in yards per return average, as he averages 35 yards per kickoff return (six returns for 210 yards).

Patrick Jackson (Columbus), a sophomore running back, is currently eighth in the country in rushing yards per game (91.3 yards per game) on the strength of 78 carries for 365 yards. Lane McGregor (Pontotoc), the current Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Special Teams Player of the Week, is ninth nationally in yards per punt average, as the sophomore has a 39.9 yard per punt average and has left 12 punts inside the opponents 20-yard line.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Trojans have two team members in the top-15 ranks inside the MACJC, led by Jaquanzi Johnson (Oxford). The sophomore defensive back is ninth in the state in tackles with 30 (7.5 per game average) and has two pass breakups. George Jackson (Rolling Fork), also a sophomore defensive back, is 14th in the league in tackles with 28, and also has one tackle for loss, one forced fumble and has broken up a pass.

Coahoma will feature a two-headed passing attack, as quarterbacks Tahj Tolbert and Joseph Johnson have seemingly split reps through the first half of the year. Tolbert has handled the lion's share, as he is 34-77 for 474 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions, while Johnson is 33-55 for 302 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Guy Thomas leads the Tigers defense after four games, as he has collected 26 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, one sack and one blocked kick.
