The 2019 season finale comes on Thursday for the Mississippi Delta Community College football team, as the Trojans head to Poplarville for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Dobie Holden Stadium on the campus of Pearl River Community College.

MDCC will look to continue heading in the right direction, despite the very quick turnaround, after a 46-42 win over Holmes Community College in Moorhead on Saturday. Delta now sits at 3-5 overall and finished 3-3 in the North division. The Wildcats of Pearl River are now 2-6 overall and ended conference play with a 1-5 record in the South after a 25-3 loss to rival and No. 1 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in week eight.

Patrick Jackson (Columbus), a sophomore running back, had 180 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries on Saturday versus Holmes, and now leads the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) is rushing attempts with 155. He ranks second in the conference in yards with 782 (trailing the league leader by only three yards) and is third in the league in rushing yards per game with a 97.8 yard per game average.

Lebarron Jones (Mobile, Ala.) also sits high atop the leaderboard, as the sophomore wide receiver is second in the MACJC in receptions (52), receiving yards (767) and receiving yards per game (95.9).

Jones and Jackson also rank in the top three in the conference in all-purpose yards, with Jones in the top slot with 1,403 total yards on the strength of 767 receiving yards, 544 kick return yards and 92 punt return yards for an average of 175.4 all-purpose yards per game. Jackson ranks in third place with his 782 rushing yards and 105 receiving yards for a total of 887 all-purpose yards.

George Jackson (Rolling Fork) currently sits at No. 13 in the state in tackles with 52 for an average of 6.5 tackles per game. He also has 5.5 tackles for loss, has forced a fumble, broken up five passes and is in a first place tie for the league lead in interceptions with three.

The Pearl River offense is led by sophomore quarterback Terrence Humphrey, who enters the finale 78-161 for 847 yards and five touchdowns, but has been susceptible to the interception, as he thrown 11 in just eight games.

Noah Mitchell, a freshman linebacker, is third in the MACJC in tackles with 80, which includes two sacks to lead the PRCC defense.
