Trojans Get Extra Time to Prepare for Jones

By Mark H. Stowers

As the homecoming opponent for the Bobcats the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans get some extra time to prepare for Jones Community College.

Regular season kickoffs have been on Thursday but some MACCC teams are choosing to play homecoming on Saturday to bring in more alumni and campus-wide events. The Trojans are happy to have more prep time to iron out key problems on both sides of the football after last week's homecoming loss to Holmes, 58-6.

The Trojans head to Jones Community College on Saturday, October 21 for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff with the #5 nationally ranked Bobcats.

"They are a damn good football team," Coach Johnson said. "They have longevity on their staff and have players who have bought into their system. And they are playing good football."

Tickets are $15 at the gate but can be pre-purchased here: jcbobcats.com/tickets.

The Bobcats are 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the MACCC South and sit in first place. The NJCAA DI rankings have Jones at #5, Mississippi Gulf Coast at #8, Copiah Lincoln at #10 followed by East Mississippi at #11 and Northeast at #15. Northwest received votes in the national poll as well.
