MDCC Athletics Releases COVID-19 Statement

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced earlier this week that all regular season and postseason competitions have been cancelled for the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic year, due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19).

Jeff Tatum, head football coach and athletic director at Mississippi Delta Community College, issued the following statement on behalf of the MDCC athletic department:

The decision made by the NJCAA was a difficult one to take in for our student-athletes and coaches, but for the well-being and safety of our department, and college, it was in their best interest. This time period leads us into unchartered territory, as the spring season has come to an abrupt halt, and was something that no one could prepare for prior to this taking place.

With that being said, however, we have great confidence that our entire department will come back better than ever, once our teams are able to compete again. We appreciate all of your support in this unprecented time, and we look forward to seeing our fans and supporters again soon.

Go Trojans!
