Trojans Ready for Tigers

With already one more win than last season, the high-scoring Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans (4-4) look to add to that tally with three December home games. The Trojans host nationally ranked #17 Northeast Community College (6-2) on Thursday, December 1, then Baton Rouge Community College on Saturday, December 3 followed by Meridian Community College on Monday, December 5. Interim Head Coach Eric Vaughn is working hard to keep his team ready for the challenge.

"It's been an adjustment with me just getting her on October 5 and every other team has a four-month head start. But I'm not making any excuses," Coach Vaughn said. "We've already eclipsed last year's win total (3) and we're 4-4. The guys are getting acclimated pretty quickly. We have nine freshmen, so we're really young. It's a good start and I couldn't be happier."

With the nationally ranked Tigers at home in J.T. Hall Coliseum, Coach Vaughn is ready for the challenge.

"Anything can happen," he said. "We didn't have much time off for Thanksgiving but it was good to get a few days off after playing so many games. We'll be ready to go on Thursday."

The Trojans have already won on the road against Baton Rouge CC but Coach Vaughn knows they'll be looking to return the favor.

"They are coming in with revenge on their mind," he said.

Meridian Community College finished in the top half of the league last season and are in the top six in pre-season rankings this year.

"They are pretty good," Coach Vaughn said. "Coach James Green is a legend. It's three home games but it's three really tough games."
