Trojans wrap up 2021 campaign

MOORHEAD – The 2021 softball season came to an end for the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans on Sunday in Perkinston.

MDCC dropped game one, 9-0, and game two, 13-4, to nationally-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

GAME 1

The offensive output in the opener was headed up by two freshmen. Mary Scott Lofton (Doddsville) and Kyla Williams (Foxworth) each picked up a hit apiece, but the Trojans were unable to cross the plate against the stout Bulldog pitching.

Gracie Parsons (Southaven) threw all four innings for the Trojans and suffered the loss in game one.

GAME 2

In the final game of the season, the Trojans had home runs from Anna Carlisle (Polkville) and McKinley Newcomer (Columbia), with each hitter picking up two RBI in the process. The home run for Carlisle was her second on the season, while the Newcomer bomb was her seventh of the 2021 campaign.

Alexandrea Johnson (Raleigh) picked up the loss in the circle.
