Lady Trojans Drop Road Double-Header to Southwest

Lady Trojans Drop Road Double-Header to Southwest

The losses are mounting for the Lady Trojans on the softball diamond. Mississippi Delta Community College competes in the Mississippi Association of Community College Conference. With an annual schedule of teams that include nationally ranked #4 Northwest, #5 Jones, #10 Co-Lin, #12 Pearl River, #13 Northeast and #15 Itawamba, wins are hard to come by.

On Saturday, the Lady Trojans traveled to Southwest Mississippi Community College to take on the Lady Bears who were winless in conference play. But Southwest, 12-16 overall and 2-8 MACCC, took both games, 11-3 and 16-1.

In game one, the Lady Trojans could only muster two hits and three runs. Madison Melton took the loss as she put in three innings on the mound giving up five hits, six runs (all earned), walked one and struck out one. Mia Robles came in for two and two-thirds innings to finish the contest.

In game two, MDCC pitchers gave up 19 hits and 16 runs. Sara Bess Morgan started on the mound but only made it 1.1 innings giving up six hits and five earned runs of the six scored. M Melton came in but couldn't tame any of the Lady Bears as she gave up 13 hits and 10 runs (seven earned.)

With 15 teams in the conference, the Lady Trojans will be off for a week with no mid-week game. They'll get back on the field on Saturday, April 1st when they host #10 Copiah Lincoln Community College. First game of the double-header begins at 1:00 p.m.
