Lady Trojans host Northeast on Thursday

The midway point of conference play in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) is near, as the Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans have two games remaining in the first half of conference play.

MDCC traveled to Northwest Community College on Tuesday night, but came away with a 69-50 loss in Senatobia. Sabreya Lee (Saltillo) led all Delta scorers with 17 points, as well as pitching in one rebound and one steal. Antanisha Wade (Cleveland) had a big night as well with 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, the Lady Trojans played host to Itawamba Community College at J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead, but were unable to come away with a win, falling to the Lady Indians, 63-42. Marlaysha Beamon (Canton) had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the MDCC effort.

Delta (5-10 overall, 1-3 in the North) picked up a crucial North division victory on Monday, Jan. 13 when the Lady Trojans defeated Holmes Community College, 56-53, in Goodman. Wade had a monster night statistically, pouring in 16 points, while collecting seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Beamon had a double-double to help lead the way as well, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Trojans have a quick turnaround, as the team will host Northeast Community College at 6 p.m. on Thursday at J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead.
