Copiah Lincoln Takes Both Men's and Women's Basketball Wins over Trojans

It was a tough night in Wesson for the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans and Lady Trojans on the hardwood. Both teams took losses, the Lady Trojans were downed 63-55 while the Trojans fell 69-65.
The Lady Trojans led 44-38 heading into the fourth quarter but were outscored 25-11 in the fourth quarter.
The game was tied three times in the fourth quarter until Copiah Lincoln took the lead, 55-54, with 4:13 left in the game. The Lady Trojans could only muster one point in the final 4:13, giving up eight points. Janiah Caples led the Lady Trojans with 22 points and seven rebounds while Layla Carter had 16 points and 13 rebounds. MDCC outrebounded Co-Lin, 38-28 but the Lady Wolves hit 7-of-18 three-point shots while MDCC only hit 3-of-14. The game was a turnover spree for both teams as the Lady Trojans had 24 to the Lady Wolves 23.
The Lady Trojans fall to 14-3 overall and 4-3 in the MACCC. The Wolves improve to 12-9 overall and 2-4 in the MACCC.
The Trojans, 9-11, 2-5 in the MACCC, led at halftime 33-31 but were outscored 39-32 in the second half. The game was tied at 65 with 2:22 left but the Trojans couldn't capitalize on their offensive opportunities while the Wolves did in the final minutes.
Davion Traylor and Javeon Smith each scored 14 points, and Andrew Mancell added 12 points. Traylor also had seven rebounds. The Wolves improved to 9-9 overall and 1-5 in the MACCC.
The teams return to J.T. Hall Coliseum on Thursday to host East Mississippi.
