Sidney Jerome Carmichael – Football 1991-92
Recruited by Bill Curry to come to Alabama, Carmichael's blue-chip running back's game plan got rewritten. The Crimson Tide wanted him to attend a Kansas JUCO first.
"I didn't want to go that far from home and Jeff Tatum offered me a scholarship," Carmichael said.
While at Moorhead, Carmichael enjoyed the leadership from each coach and one teacher – Mrs. Sandra Moore.
"She is my favorite. And Coach Gray was always an inspiration to me."
The Monroeville, Alabama native played for the Trojans as a linebacker and played in the East–West Junior College All Star game. He was awarded the Leadership Award as a Trojan. He continued his gridiron greatness at Ole Miss and graduated with a B.S. in Public Administration in 1995.
Carmichael notes his most precious accomplishments are his three children and his beautiful wife, Robin, whom he met at Ole Miss. His oldest son, Xavier, played football at Duke University and went on to Tulane University for medical school. Their middle son, Zackery, attended Ole Miss, graduated with a Health degree and later graduated from South Alabama's Nursing School. His daughter, Xandrea, is a junior at Auburn University.
