Bulldogs split with the Bears

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games here Saturday with the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears winning 12-4 and falling 4-0 in game two.

Holmes is scheduled to travel to Baton Rouge on Tuesday.

In game one, Hunter Bethel got the start and went the distance picking up the win. He gave up four runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Nicolas Schwing and Brenden Skirtech each had four hits for the Bulldogs with Schwing adding a triple and two doubles while Skirtech had a double. Matthew Reed had three hits while Amari Conley and Adam Francisco each had two with Reed and Francisco each adding two doubles while Conley had one.

In game two, Aidan Bellman got the start and suffered the loss. Will Carter also pitched in the game. Reed had three hits. Hunter Azemar added a double.

Against Delta in Goodman on Wednesday, the Bulldogs fell twice, 4-2 and 7-4.

Holmes hosts Southwest on Saturday at 2/5 p.m.

In game one, Josh Fleming got the start and suffered the loss in six innings of work. Carson Moon also pitched in the game. Andrew Dinkelacker led the Bulldogs with three hits including a double while Matt Reed added a double.

In game two, Holton Hartzog got the start and suffered the loss in 4 2/3 innings of work. Will Carter and Drew Newman also pitched in the game. Brenden Skirtech led with two hits including a double and a triple.
