Trojans head to Faith Prep on Thursday

MOORHEAD – On Thursday night, the Mississippi Delta Community College men's basketball team will step away from Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) play, traveling to West Memphis, Ark., to play Faith Prep.

Delta is in the midst of a four-game skid in which the Trojans have been shorthanded in personnel, but look to get a number of key players back for a potential postseason run. The latest results from MDCC are as follows:

MDCC vs HOLMES, 3/18

The Trojans traveled to Goodman at the conclusion of last week, and after a heavy back-and-forth between both teams early on, fell at the hands of Holmes Community College, 86-67.

Wisdom Kowouto (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) had his best night to date as a Trojan, as the sophomore center had 21 points and pulled down 19 rebounds in the loss.

Shamarvious Hodges (Indianola) had a big night as well, finishing with 15 points and six assists. Chavis Banks (Yazoo City) chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds, nearly completing the double-double.

MDCC vs EAST MISSISSIPPI, 3/15

Delta was on the road in Scooba a week ago from today and left town with a disappointing 85-48 at the hands of the Lions.

Hodges led all Trojans scorers with 12 points on the evening.

Banks and Willie Eagins, Jr. (Jonestown) each poured in 11 points, with Banks adding eight rebounds and two assists and Eagins, Jr. finishing with six rebounds and two assists.

MDCC vs ITAWAMBA, 3/11

At the conclusion of Spring Break in Moorhead, MDCC played host to Itawamba Community College and fell to the Indians, 74-64.

Jarius Sharp (Stephens, Ark.) had a huge night against ICC, finishing with 23 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Banks helped the MDCC cause with 11 points and eight rebounds.

MDCC vs NORTHWEST, 3/8

Delta started the Spring Break holidays off by playing host to Northwest Mississippi Community College, and despite a hard-nosed effort, fell to the Rangers, 68-65.

Sharp was the go-to guy against NW, as he ended the evening with 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Eagins, Jr. had another very solid stat line in the narrow loss, as the freshman guard had 16 points, six assists and four rebounds.
