Trojans Look to Add More Wins – Dive Into Conference Action
Already staking claim to last year's win total (3), the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans are ready to make some waves in conference play. The Trojans host Itawamba on Thursday, January 5 at J.T. Hall Coliseum and then hit the road on Monday, January 9 to take on Meridian Community College whom they lost to in a non-conference overtime game, 83-82 on early December. Game time against Meridian is 6:00 p.m.
Head Coach Derrick Fears is working the team back into shape after the Christmas break layoff.
"Hopefully, Itawamba isn't far off from us with conditioning," Coach Fears said. "It's hard to predict or gauge what will happen. The long layoff will be an issue with conditioning. It will be a little tough for them but they will get through it. They are college basketball players."
The Trojans are 3-8 on the season with two forfeited wins due to eligibility issues. The team welcomes a new face, Jequann Roberson. The 6-foot, 9-inch freshman played at Greenville High School but has been sidelined the past three seasons missing his senior year of high school season due to Covid cancellation then waiting out transfer requirements in college.
