Trojans Take Northeast to the Limit but fall, 83-82

It was a homecoming of sorts for Trojan Head Coach Derrick Fears. The Northeast alum had his Trojans on his old campus to try and pick up a conference win.

The Trojans were down by six points at the half, 38-32 but soared back in the second half outscoring Northeast 50-45.

MDCC actually took the lead, 82-81 with 12 seconds left when Jherrone Jones made a layup. Northeast answered with a jump shot with only five ticks left on the clock taking the 83-82 lead. Latrell Vance missed a three-point shot and Richard Jackson got the rebound but his attempt was blocked at the buzzer, preserving Northeast's win.

For the Trojans Jones and Richard Jackson each had 13 points. LaJames Ducksworth came off the bench and added 12 points.

Northeast improves to 15-8 overall and 6-5 in the MACCC. The Trojans fall to 5-16 overall and 2-8 in the MACCC. Next up for the Trojans is a home tilt on Monday, February 13 as Pearl River comes to town.
