Lady Trojans Head to Holmes for Good Friday

The Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojan softball team will be on the road on Good Friday taking on Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Co-Lin sits atop the MACCC with 20-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 in the MACCC. The Lady Trojans battled Arkansas State-Newport on Wednesday at the Carl and Brenda Grubb Softball Complex on the Moorhead Campus. In game one, the Lady Trojans took the early lead when sophomore MarQueshia Starks singled to pick up the RBI as freshman Adriyana Ruffin scored. ASU-Newport scored in the top of the fourth but the Lady Trojans picked up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Sophomore Carlie Vannucci picked up the seven-inning win with 10 strikeouts and only gave up two hits and one run and walked only one. Game two was another Lady Trojan win as they put up 11 runs on the scoreboard in an 11-2 win over ASU-Newport. Sara Frances Ramsay picked up the win on the mound and had three RBIs to lead the Lady Trojans. 

April begins with a home double-header with Holmes (17-13 overall and 3-7 in MACCC) on Wednesday, April 3 followed by a home matchup with MACCC second place East Central Community College (21-5 overall and 7-1 MACCC) on Saturday, April 6.
